Weekend Getaway

{This post should have originally been published Monday, February 18th}

So we woke up Saturday morning, and apparently Roy and Audrey had a hankering to get outta Dodge. Since we're so young and spontaneous, we packed up and headed south. No, seriously, we did!

My handsome husband driving us in his big truck. :)

Audrey was a pretty good traveler. She sang a lot, and was pretty loud and only drove us slightly nuts.

Audrey's favorite pastime is luggage cart-riding. She's basically a pro at this point.

We were pretty stoked about going to the beach. Unfortunately, a cold front had come through and things were pretty chilly...and the indoor pool at the hotel wasn't much better. We were all pretty tired so it didn't matter a whole lot.

Morning cartoons while mom wakes up. :)

That morning we headed to the beach. It always amazes me just how much Audrey loves the beach. She loves running and she loves water. I think the two of these things coupled just puts her over the top!

Selfie for Cheryl!!! :-D

We hit up the Corpus aquarium that afternoon, and it was really neat. The Georgia Aquarium definitely ranks up highest on my list, but the Corpus aquarium was partly inside and partly outside which was different and fun.
The next day Audrey woke up and said, "go to BEACH?!" Hehe...not for a while I think. I guess we'll know what Audrey's vote for family vacations will always be...

Let's Rodeo, San Antonio!

Ok, so to say the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is a big deal would be a kind of an understatement. I had no idea, despite hearing "Let's RODEO, San Antonio!" all the time, and seeing Texas get even more Texasy, if that's even possible. But it's a big deal. A biiiiiiig deal. Even Kid-2-Kid had a special pre-Rodeo sale. Audrey's preschool had a "wear your favorite Rodeo get ups" day. Holy wow, Texas is serious about their rodeos!

So, a good friend gave us tickets to go to  - the Rodeo - with them!!! It was probably one of the cooler things I've ever done.

We got there a tad bit early and walked around and saw some livestock. Audrey was very excited to see Shaun (the sheep). She liked the idea of the calves, but didn't want to pet one. Go figure.

Horses and flags. Apparently it's a thing.

This picture reminds me of Heather.

The horses were right at Audreys feet and she really liked it! She woke up the next morning talking about "horsies and boys"... HMMM

In other news, I am (apparently) allergic to horses.

During the switchovers, we took pictures...

 Favorite family pic..

Punkin...

And THEN Casting Crowns gave a concert!!!! How much better could one show get?!

It is my official stance that you haven't lived til you've been to the rodeo. If you live in the Northeast, apparently you are out of luck...but don't worry, you can just go visit San Antonio in February.  ;o)
